One for Sorrow.
Sometimes I feel like that lonely Magpie on it's own. Magpies like shiny things, I like shiny things. The results are uncanny.
Sorry for being a shitty blogger but to be honest, I haven't got a lot going on! Besides uni and my NEW project. Which I'm sure you're so very eager to know about. Well, I'm doing about superstitions and folk lore. Magpies is my main focus right now, which at least in my life has been a huge part of what I believe it. Since being a little girl I remember my Dad saying 'Where's your wife Mr. Magpie?'. That, as it turns out, is a Northern thing. But if you say it and you're not from the North then let me know!
So basically, if you don't know the little rhyme, it is:
One for sorrow
Two for joy
Three for a girl
Four for a boy
Five for silver
Six for gold
Seven of a secret
That must not be told
Eight for a wish
Nine for a kiss
Ten for a bird
That must not be missed.
It can really become a lot more morbid and dark if you think about the whole secret thing and why are we not missing this bird? It's all very crazy what mumbo-jumbo us folk believe in.
Also a little fitting with Halloween, which is one giant superstition really.
Happy Blipping.
