OLD VARNISH

This old varnish has been gently doing its thing for 90-odd years.
Varnish shrinks.

Even the dreaded Polyurethane shrinks, but never in a gentle way. Lay it on too thick & Polyurethane  will pull your table apart as seen in so many Ovation guitars. To CC's chagrin, I refuse to work on any Ovation.

Apologies to any Ovation players among you, but frankly they are an insult to my art. Anathema...

Sorry - off my high horse - old varnish would seem to know how to shrink gracefully & create this perfect "crazy paving" that neither you nor I could hope to imitate...
