Twits and Turns

Australian home grown Sculpture where two creations are never the same. the Ficus macrophylla or Australian banyan are found up and down the East Coast of Australia. This ever green tree is a strangler tree. This means it's seeds find there way via birds or the wind, into the canopy of a host tree, where the seedling lives as an epiphyte. Sending out roots downwards to the ground the Banyan will then slowly kill it's host and become a free standing tree.
The root system which is above ground are buttress roots and create natural beauty on their sculpture.
However the roots below the ground are the hidden destruction which this tree creates. For the Banyan has a need and love of water which means it will go to great means to find a plentiful supply.
