Former German Circus Horse...
.....at least that's what the proprietor of the local B&B said it was. I believe it is a Palomino and it was one of three such beautiful horses that could be seen galloping around the expansive, hilly paddocks across the street from where we stayed.
I use the term B&B rather loosely. It was actually a bare-bones lodging in a remote part of Western Maryland for bicyclists traveling the C&O Canal. We returned to this part of the state so that my husband could run another stretch of the canal towpath in his quest to run all 184 miles of it. Eighty-year-old Steve is the proprietor of the lodging which consists of 6 rooms attached to his house. He runs this all by himself, so you can guess that it wasn’t the Ritz, but it was all that was available. Nearby was a place called “Bills” where one could get beer, bait, and burgers, and other assorted items that a biker or fisherman might need. We opted for the burgers and beer (and a little white wine for me) and a chance to hang out at the bar and watch football with some of the locals before calling it an early night.
I got lots of points for getting through the overnight "B&B" experience without whining (whinging).
