Head On Heron

A quick visit to Fishers Green as a reward to myself for dealing with admin. I had a poke around by Norman's Pond looking for bugs but didn't find much other than a couple of spiders for #Arachtober. I lifted a piece of corrugated iron not expecting to see anything but a darling shrew had made a nest under it. Silly me, I had the wrong lens on to capture it before it scarpered.

When I entered the Bittern Hide a family with young children and a gorgeous border collie were looking at the ring-necked parakeets on the feeders. I love these birds. Wish I could get a shot of them in flight.

It was much quieter when the children and the parakeets had gone. I have shot and posted herons in flight many times before but have never got one head on. Birds do look weird from this aspect. :)

I also shot my first ever Cetti's warbler. I've heard their loud call many times and have seen the foliage twitching but they're very shy and extremely difficult to capture. Not worth posting the pic as it was late and the light very poor.
