Not our first choice...

... of eatery!

It's been a trying holiday day. We decided to leave Faro and head over to Tavira where the rain was expected to be less heavy. The train journey was short and uneventful and we wandered into the town centre in light rain. After a coffee stop we went out for a wander before the weather got worse.

A snack in the same friendly cafe lasted well over an hour before we emerged into the torrential rain. Back to the station and Faro, where the rain was indeed atrocious. 

Never mind,, dinner was already booked and paid for in what is generally considered the best restaurant in town - on the roof of our hotel. So we dried off and relaxed.

Cue the phone in the room to tell us the restaurant had been flooded by the storms and would be closed this evening.

Time to go find an alternative.

Update 25 October:

We found an excellent restaurant in the old town. The rain was still falling during our five minute walk back to the hotel. (See extra shot from Faro Old Town). Thunderstorms lasted for some time into the night.
