The Life of Riley continues!
In the ten days we've been fostering this little chap he has gained in confidence so much. Today we were graced by his company as we enjoyed our early morning cuppa! He has finally worked out that we go upstairs at night and so this morning he decided to come and find us. Too sweet!
Today is a bitter sweet day though because we are taking him back to the Dogs Trust. Initially he will be fostered by a lovely woman we met there yesterday who lives just around the corner from the Evesham Centre and they took to each other immediately. This means that he won't have to go into their kennels for the week or so it takes to complete all the adoption stuff, including a very informative talk that all new owners have to attend before they can take their dog home with them.
Riley will then go to live with his new "forever" mum whom we also met at the Centre yesterday. She is a lovely young woman and Riley is the perfect dog for her. It was love at first sight and they completely bonded. She sat on the floor with him and we chatted with her for ages about Riley, our lives and her life. Riley just lay on the floor next to her and slept! They'd already been out to play with his ball while we took ourselves off for a quick sandwich and coffee up the road.
So although it will be very sad to finally say goodbye to him, we know he is going to be loved and well looked after for the rest of his life. He has been a very special first charge for us and we won't ever forget him.
