Life's a Beach
I believe I can speak with some authority on the subject of Miss C's birthday celebrations when I state that today sees the end of cake and present opening. It is the first full day of our half-term holiday away in Suffolk, on the coast at Kessingland and the first opportunity since the actual day for Grandma and Grandpa to join in the festivities.
So it was fair to say that Miss C's eagerness to return to the holiday house after Sunday lunch at the local pub, exceeded her will to stroll along the beach in the broken sun of this October day. In the event, just Miss I and I walked along the sands for a mile or so before returning. The presence of a play area complete with swings and slides on our walk to the pub had not escaped the attention of Master H which inevitably held a stronger appeal than sand and a bracing breeze.
Back on the beach, we stopped and enquired with one of the numerous fishermen how their luck was fairing. It turned out they'd arrived only half an hour previously, but remained hopeful for a catch including whiting and dab before plans to leave at around 8pm. A little further on, hopes were raised when a bite was caught, rod was whipped and we waited watching while line was reeled in to reveal a healthy catch of seaweed!
After present opening, drinks and cake at the holiday house, the cinema room proved popular with a matinée showing of something CGI'd suitable for the younger audience. As I write, the youngsters are enjoying a dip in the hot tub in the dark (naturally). A bit of work for me beckons this evening and thoughts of tomorrow's outing. More on that later no doubt.
Have a great week all!
