Unconvinced!

A very full day today at Longshaw. It was our annual Wild Wood Adventure Day, and I was deployed in the Birdzone. Our main activity was  getting kids to find and match up realistic photos of birds with 12 fluffy ones like this Tawny Owl (with realistic calls when squeezed) sitting or hanging in trees. I was a little bit cynical initially, but the kids (and even some of the parents)  absolutely loved dressing up in camo, and sporting a pair of binoculars to find the birds. We also had a mini hide, and 2 small boys who refused to leave, and an activity which involved donning a short or a long beak on elastic and feeding on worms or seed according to what side of a piece of velcro was attached to each. 
If you think the owl is unconvincing, then you should have seen the cuddly Peregrine!
