Downward Facing Squirrel
Dexter, our tabbycat, spends a lot of time by the deck doors looking out. He gets incensed when he sees chipmunks and squirrels hanging out on "his" deck. Thwap! Thwap! Thwap! goes the tabby-tail. Free tabby entertainment.
On this morning, Dexter's tail was wiggling like crazy and he was jumping up and down, so I looked out to see not just one but TWO squirrels cavorting on the tree by the deck. Two big, healthy, fuzzy ones.
The top squirrel disappeared quickly but this one, the lower squirrel, sat like this for a minute or two. Then with a flourish of its fuzzy tail, it disappeared too. We waited, but they didn't return.
It was only later, upon downloading this photo, that I noticed that the squirrel had a little treasure: a nut, held between its two front paws and mouth.
The soundtrack is a song from Dolly Parton's album, Treasures, a collection of covers of other famous country tunes. This shot was Dexter's view from behind closed doors. So the song is . . . Dolly, with Behind Closed Doors.
