The Hussars

I have wanted to go to Cheltenham races for years and finally made it today. What a fantastic set up. A beautiful setting with Cleeve Hill in the background and an up and down circuit which you just don't appreciate on the tv.

The final long uphill straight to the finish certainly sort out the horses. In several races the horses that were leading into the final furlong ended up way down the field.

It is one of those places where it is actually better to see it live than on the TV - usually I find its the other way round. And its so well designed and thought through. A triumph of form meeting function.

Plus, it was quite a decent day with some sunshine. Although it was getting murky by the time the Hussars escorted the horses down to the penultimate race, Which was almost won by the rank outsider.

The pic wouldnt win any prizes for clipping off the hooves and one of the plumes. Too bad.
