Estelas en la mar

By Diero

Unconditional love

We promised we would be together until death set us apart.

He bore with all my me: happy, sad, single, in partnerships (even the less friendly ones), in hot and frozen winds, by air and by sea…

He also bore with a lot of kids jumping on him and with my kids feeding him, and with cats stealing his food.

He got me wonder behind him around Bogota by night, wake at night when he was sick, move, and move again, meet fishermen on the Oubangui, scream away Alpine peace when I though he was lost, catch early trains from Euston station for a Sunday countryside walk, meet dog-walkers in Battersea Park, repair doors, spend 18 hours on a trip London-Brussels, explore Bois de la Cambre, meet Matt, know about all dog-frienly plans out there, run away from a vet in Miami.
He stood by me when I was scared, tired, trekking, under the sun and under the rain, wedding.

He followed until his legs wouldn’t support him anymore. Until he had to wait at home, for hours, for days, for a moment I could stop by.

He is so much part of my life that he has his own account on my PC, he is part of the very password.

He was my niece superhero and would have been my children’s one…

PP is already asking him back, assuring that life is better with a dog. I certainly share his views.

I already miss you. You will always be in my heart, my best friend, Diero, my Dierito lindo.
