UNKNOWN VISITOR
I'm wondering just who has been visiting our sunflowers, is it just a very bedraggled bumble bee or something else? I wondered if it was dying at first, as it seemed lethargic and quite unperturbed by the camera noise, but as I watched, I noted it was busy collecting pollen and sweeping it backwards as though towards its pollen baskets, though I could not see those. Distant view
Much needed day of rest and pottering about various domestic and garden chores. My varifocals are at the optician's being fitted with a new lens following an eye test yesterday. Working with my reading glasses is awkward and photography well nigh impossible - I had not realised before how much I shift between the near and distant when using my camera. It was a good excuse just to sit in the sun and read much of the day. Finished Gilead (many thanks for the recommendation whoever you were!) and now enjoying When God was a Rabbit. Managed to split up some of my rhubarb, empty a compost bin, harvest some spinach and chard for dinner, plant out some thyme and prick out some little foxglove plants, and write a crabby letter to the local paper about a piece of beauracratic nonsense, but lethargy was the prominent feature of the day.
GOOD THINGS:
Sleeping late
A day without appointments
Sitting out in the late evening sunshine, blethering with the Prof
