Earl Mountbatten

Spotted in Southmpton today was this statue of Lord Louis Mountbatten, or Prince Louis of Battenberg as he was born. He was a great grandson to Queen Victoria and had a remarkable impact on the World during his life and career before he was cruely murdered by the IRA in 1979.

This statue was erected by the Burma Star Association as a memorial to all those who lost their lives in the Far East during the Second World War.
