Old Father Thames
C and I enjoyed a lovely day in London today - our own Mini-Blip-Meet. It was pretty exhausting and a very long day, as we were up around 6 am and didn't get back until getting on for 11 pm.
We walked for almost 11 miles (according to my trusty pedometer) and my feet certainly believe it.
At one point we got off the tube train on the Jubilee Line, and just walked to where we wanted to go, as the train had come to a total standstill. We found out when we were driving back from Warwick Parkway railway station this evening that it was due to a suspect device at a station a bit further along. Bomb experts later destroyed the device in a controlled explosion. There were certainly lots of emergency vehicles and sirens everywhere we went, but by the time we got back onto the Jubilee Line at about 7pm it was virtually back to normal.
Before we came back we ate an excellent meal at a pub called The George and we later found out that it is the oldest pub in London. C had been trying to find it and had given up, and then we came across it quite by accident. The George is C's blip this evening.
I took this photo from the Millennium Footbridge, just as the sun was going down, and we were heading off to eat. The light was really beautiful as it glinted on the glass buildings and the river. You can also see Tower Bridge in the distance.
