Carl Solway Gallery

The Carl Solway Gallery is a commercial gallery therefore anything that they have on display is for sale. Right now there are two different shows going on in the main gallery. The art that is shown through technology is work by Alan Rath. Rath was originally MIT trained in electrical engineering but after college he knew he wanted to be an artist. Rath puts all of his artwork together by hand. He programs the art as well as wires it and makes it run. Some of the pieces have very intricate programs and change on a daily basis, they all have a motion detector built in so that when the gallery goes dark and everyone goes home they can go to sleep. The other artist that is featured in the main gallery is Duane Michals. Michals is known for the staged series of photographs that he publishes. He adds his own touch to many of them with his handwriting to label and put the order of the sequence on the photos. There was also a second floor gallery that we viewed. There is an array of art by many different artists that is displayed and constantly rotated through because it is just in inventory of the gallery.
