Playing about under Connel Bridge . . .

The 'Falls of Lora' is a bit of an exaggeration, as it's really only a shelf at the mouth of the sea-loch, Loch Etive. When the tide is out, the water streams out of Loch Etive and gives kayakers a bit of sport.

The bridge, originally a railway bridge, was opened in 1903 to carry the Oban-Ballachulish railway across Loch Etive. It functioned as a road and rail bridge for a long time, but when the railway was finally closed in 1966 it became exclusively a road crossing.
