Wound up in Wexford

Garden route day 4, Knysna loerie

We reluctantly left Tsitsikamma.  We visited a large tree - an Outaniqua yellowwood, imaginatively called "big tree" and then went to a wonderful bird sanctuary.

We spent a great couple of hours walking round, taking photos of innumerable birds.  In particular, I took lots of photos of loeries.  It was only when we sat down for a cup of coffee and some cake that we reviewed the booklet provided, and my photos, and we realised that I didn't have a picture of a Knysna loerie.  I was under strict instructions from W's sister to "not come back without a picture"!  So we went round again, and this time I made sure to get plenty of photos of the right bird.

Little did we realise that, when we arrived in Knysna to stay with some old friends of W's, that they have loeries regularly visiting them for food.  So the photo I have posted was taken from their balcony.

The extra is of an oriole, also taken from the same balcony.
