Assembling the platform

I worked on a carriage clock this morning.  The smallest part on the top of the clock is the platform escapement assembly with the escape wheel, pallets and balance wheel and hairspring.  This does the job which would be done by a pendulum on a larger clock, regulating the release of power from the mainspring through the train of gears to the escape wheel, ensuring the clock keeps time.  It is the ticking part of the clock.  Each tick allows the minute hand, which is attached to the arbor of the centre wheel poking through the dial, to move.  The pivots of the escape wheel and pallets visible in the photo are extremely delicate.  The slightest pressure in reassembly will break them, so locating them into their holes must be done with extreme care (and a steady hand!)
