Baby Buddha

He's amazingly heavy and not at all disturbed from his wee nap by all the hoiking we have done this afternoon trying to find the right place for him. I'm not sure this is it but we're too tired to move him again. He comes from Bali via the Piedmont Yoga Studio where I used to teach and which sold him to me.. I don't think he's really designed to live outside, but a little work with a big brush and a toothbrush has removed most of the moss. The mold is probably there to stay, but let's just say it adds to the patina.

We have been perfecting the space formerly occupied by Mr Spikey with pots of succulents on a bed of gravel. Sounds like a dinner entrée. It looks quite nice except for the gas meter, the plug for the hot tub and the irrigation valves which are all ugly right next to the house, or on it, and difficult to cover and disguise. Interestingly, most of it can't be seen from inside the hot tub, especially as I am usually the only one in it and only take the cover half way off.

One of my main reasons for moving out of Berkeley was to be able to sit outside. Now we have so many places to sit outside that we can't decide…there are chairs and a table, made from the flagstone that was under Mr. Spikey next to the Baby Buddha outside the bedroom door, a round stone table and chairs on the back patio, a covered porch just off the kitchen with a sectional couch, and an arbor up by the veggie boxes with chairs and a fire pit. OilMan and Ozzie like to sit up there in the morning. As for the other choices…it depends on the temperature, and the bug level….
