Southeast by south
Day 14 following the 32 points of the compass in sequence. The act of naming them in this order is known as Boxing the Compass.
The line drawn today from Glossop town centre is in the direction of Mill Hill which is just west of the Ashop head end of the highest mountain in the Peak District Kinder Scout.
The photograph was taken on a short footpath between Kidd Road and Derbyshire Level (yes that really is the name of the road and of course it's not level, anything but! ). Over the field of cut grass in the foreground and to the left is a walled track in Bray Clough. Continuing to walk on the footpath I was standing on leads to that track and to the open moorland.
There is a slight hint of purple heather already on the moorland a sure sign of progress through the summer.
