young buzzard

The same bird that I mentioned in yesterday's blip. I spotted it on the way to post a letter. I'd planned a longer walk but it started to rain. It's good to see that he/she survived the night in strange territory but is still a concern as the parents are not around. Of course I was cursing because I didn't have a camera with a long(ish) lens, but the quality of the Olympus (which miraculously fixed itself overnight) allowed me to crop a lot. 

In other news I got an early email from the eldest (always nice to hear from him) with some photos of a brocken spectre he'd taken at the weekend.  Sounds like we may even get to see him on Friday :)

Now you can call me stupid. I did!  After lunch I lifted my rucksack to do some hoovering and wondered why it was so heavy. The Panasonic camera with 35-100 lens was underneath my waterproofs. I could have had a much better photo of the bird.
