Paro Dzong

Today I took the early morning flight from Kathmandu to Paro in Bhutan.  This is a most spectacular flight as it runs alongside the highest part of the Himalayas and gives amazing views of Everest, Kanchenjunga and several other 8000m peaks.
I have at last reached my destination country!  Each province in Bhutan has a Dzong.  This is a fortified monastery.  Part of the building is used by the Bhutanese civil servants administering the district but the remainder is a Buddhist temple and monastery.  They date back to the 18th century.
