Aratiatia Rapids

We drove to Lake Taupo for lunch today and on the way stopped to see the Aratiatia Rapids.  Four times daily the spill gates from the Aratiatia Hydroelectric Power Station are opened for half an hour  and it is wonderful to watch the awesome display of the power of nature.   The main blip is five minutes after the gates were opened, extra 2 is just before opening and extra 3  is ten minutes after opening.
