Late Afternoon Visitors
Late this morning, I nearly crowned Husband when he yelled and his loud voice carried through the open window, scaring off a fawn that was peacably nibbling at greenery in the back yard. So much for the fawn....
As I was making dinner, I noticed a single doe eating grass at the side of the house. I watched a few minutes, then went back to what I was doing. A little later, I looked out the window and was surprised to see not only the doe, but a buck and two fawns!
I happen to know that those fawns are as nervous as a cat in a room full of rocking chairs, so I slowly, ever-so-slowly, opened the side window to hoist my camera outside. Success! None of the deer seemed to respond to the noise the window made, but I smiled to myself as they all stopped eating and looked nervously about at the Cuc, cuc, cuc sound of a Pileated Woodpecker in the distance.
Living in the woods is mostly great, but it was impossible to capture the four deer all together! The trees were so in the way! So here is a photo of Mama deer and one of the twins. They can be so annoying, but are really such beuatiful animals!
As an aside....I finally have full access once again on my laptop! Hurrah! Husband set up a second modem in the upstairs hallway to serve as a "repeater" for the one downstairs. Now, no more weak connections that come and go!
