NC Oyster Festival

In these parts, there seems to be a festival for everything, and this weekend was the NC Oyster Festival at Ocean Isle Beach, NC.  OIB is one of 3 island beaches on the far Southestern Corner of NC about 15 minutes from our house.  One of the events is a shagging contest, therefore the numbers on the backs some of the dancers.  As I've noted here before, shagging  is done to what is known as Beach Music (and is not what is the reference some of you shared with me, otherwise the activity would not be contested publicly with many sitting in chairs near the dance area and stage to watch).  Neither of the couples numbered in this dance won the contest, and we were disappointed the two couples who had a dance-off for first place did not seem to be nearly as good as  many we've seen.  The festival drew a very large crowd, I suspect as relief to the confinement and fears of last weekend's hurricane.  Incidentally, a town about 30 minutes from here is expecting record flooding to crest tomorrow at levels not seen since 1928.  It is still so sad for many.  I heard from a friend in Savannah today on FB who had gotten electric power restored today.  Ours was off long enough to have to empty the frig and freezer, but that's an inconvenience compared to the real loss and suffering of many.
