Red fire truck

Not a great photo...

This was parked outside the mechanics theatre this afternoon, round the back. Apparently the mayor had arranged for it to be there for some reason. I'm told that he used to work on a similar vehicle back in the sixties.

There's a painting based on a poem about a number five on the back of a fire truck by Charles Demuth. You should go check it out on the Internet. I love that painting and tried to recreate when I was at college.

I saw the figure 5
in gold

fire truck
moving
tense
unheeded

through the dark city
