Boulogne sur Mer

Friends of ours came up from Dorset and we caught the early morning train to France. It takes 35 minutes to load the car onto the train and sit there until we burst out the other end in France. We drove over to Boulogne which has a lovely market on Saturdays, full of veg and fruit and produce from the land. I bought a jar of gelee d' mure (blackberry jam) and some spicy mergez sausages from the Morrocan butcher. We had a coffee and coissant and then headed off to buy wine and some other bits and pieces culinary before stopping for a fantastic lunch. We were just finishing when we realised that the great chef Michel Roux was sitting at the table opposite, also enjoying a good meal.

Just time for a quick walk around a little garden in the old town where l spotted the 'nose' in today's picture. The extra is a collage of two shop signs l noticed just near the little garden.

Altogether a very pleasant day - off to bed early tonight.
