Lee Merrien - Olympic Marathon

Took this blip of Lee Merrien, one of GB's two entrants in the London Olympic Marathon.

We had positioned ourselves on the Embankment at a spot where the athletes would pass by 4 times, when we were joined by a family who asked if they could place their flag on the barrier in front of us.

Not knowing which country the flag represented we got talking and it turned out it was the flag of Guernsey, Lee Merrien's home. Not only that the husband of the family was an athletics coach and had coached Lee merrien in the past.

They were very knowledgeable, and were able to keep us well informed as the race developed.
