So it's 3 Deanery Synods, a Bishop's Staff presentation, meetings on Baptism and a school visit to help shape distinctiveness. A busy few days. I couldn't ask for a photo at today's meetings - it wasn't the right occasion - so here are some the images I'll be using in meetings coming up soon. They are by the German artist Sieger Köder. He trained as a silversmith and painter and worked for some years as an art teacher. He studied theology in Tübingen and was ordained a priest in 1971, combining his vocation as a parish priest with his work as an artist. Köder’s work expressed a distinctively earthy theological and spiritual interpretation of biblical and abstract themes and a warm, inclusive ecclesiology. Another theme of Köder’s is the clown. Christ or his disciples are sometimes depicted as clowns, and the recurring motif is a message of freedom from rules, rationality and rigidity and the unruliness of the inner life, of human instinctiveness and the longing for artistic expression.
Great pictures, no words.
