The Cutting Back Begins...

Dear Diary,

Yesterday Matt, my fabulous garden helper, came to begin the fall chore of cutting back all the perennials.  We got the front and side done and the leaves raked.  That will have to be done again since all the leaves haven't fallen yet but it makes things look a bit neater for now.

I was totally ready for this.  It is strange that every year I am so enthusiastic to begin gardening in the spring but so ready to let it go come October.  "To every thing there is a season...." I guess.  It is the harvesting and letting go season right now, and the bulb planting season too.  I will put some in the two new gardens.  I do so look forward to seeing them pop up in the spring especially if it was a long winter.
