Saxon Windowed

Sketch extended to add missing bit of arch at top.
Had to glue on extra paper - message to self - even when sketching take more care with initial placement of main motif!
Glued onto some Jim Holtz craft paper which has a core colour and a surface colour allowing for the sanding of the surface to reveal the underlying colour. Useful stuff. Comes in a gorgeous range of colours too.
Whole thing mounted on a hessian backing recycled from a naff framed pic bought for next to nothing at the Range.
Frame adapted from the matt cream paint by working in then sanding and polishing a gold substance called 'Rub and Buff' - the name of which always makes me giggle - must be the fumes :-)
Thanks for the heads up on this product Phoeb, it's lovley to use and very forgiving, gives a lovely soft finish too.
So that's it - done.
'Nuther piece for the St Mary's exhibition.
These projects set by my local artists' network can intrude into one's own work but then again they can be inspirational. I use resources I wouldn't ordinarily consider - I have written ten poems, made seven pieces of work that wouldn't have existed, and developed a surprising interest in Saxon History and the geology of my coast. Can't be bad.
