Monday - Trip to Oban
After we sat up until 5 am last night we did not have a too early start.
I think we left only at 11 am and drove out of Glasgow in order to do a small Highland Tour.
We stopped obligatory at Loch Lomond and then turned West to go the Inveraray way.
Weather was nice but quite chilly at the "Rest and be Thankful" pass (love the name!).
We talked non stop and had fun, although that meant that we were going not really fast speed.
We reached Inveraray just before 2 pm and went directly for Lunch in the Argyll Hotel. After that we walked to the Castle for some pictures. It was lovely and sunny and the colours of the woods were beautiful.
On way down we visited Iain Campbell, the magnificent piper who "practices" at the Woolen Mill. I know him since years and it is always lovely to catch up. And he also looks always amazing.
We then continued our way up along Loch Awe towards Oban.
Since we were not hurrying, it was already after 5 pm and I worried that we will still see Glencoe in same day light.
In Oban we had a little stroll and I had to go to the fish hut at the pier to get a huge crab. After a coffee in the sunshine we continued our trip up to Balachulish then through Glencoe. There was still some light but we had missed the proper daylight.
We arrived in Glasgow pretty late and stopped at the shops for some beer and salad before we finally got home.
Our dinner was left overs from the day before for Marcus and a huge crab for myself and we continued talking until after 2 am again.
It was a great day and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
The picture is Marcus taken at the Rest and be thankful Pass.
