An ex-vole!!

Not much to report today, but I did find this bank vole, in perfect condition, hanging by its tail a couple of metres up in a bramble thicket. What a mystery! Apparently, they are good climbers. Could it have been seeking the juicy blackberries that were near to it? Possibly, but how did it die? Could it have over-dosed on all the berries? Despite a series of increasingly fanciful hypotheses, I finally concluded it had probably been dropped by accident by an owl or buzzard and just got caught up in the bramble. And yet...it didn't seem to have any wounds. Anyway, RIP lovely vole.
