Die-in in front of City Hall
Tonight as I write this, about a hundred activists, most of them young and able-bodied, are camping out at City Hall beneath a Black Lives Matter banner they hung today, to protest the mayor's attempt to ramrod a new police contract through city council without considering community opinions. Activists are not complaining about the very high salaries and benefits for police, but they are outraged at the lack of accountability built into the contract. By camping out, they hope to be the first in line to attend the public meeting of the city council tomorrow.
Many more photos of today's action, including many portraits of local activists standing up for what they believe, are here.
