Into Virginia
We left Pennsylvania behind us this morning, and drove through a small bit of Maryland before entering Virginia. We took back roads ("Scenic Byways" as they are labeled) and traveled under a clear blue sky through miles of beautiful, green rolling hills dotted with immaculate horse farms and vineyards. At Thornton Gap we joined the famous Skyline Drive, which runs for some 100 miles through the Blue Ridge Mountains the length of Shenandoah National Park. As you can see from the image above, there were countless stunning mountain vistas, as well as beautiful woodland with dappled sunlight, and some steep climbs and sharp S-turns which Mr. W very much enjoyed!
We have just arrived in Roanoke, VA where we will spend the next two nights before traveling on to Virginia International Raceway for Mr. W's next big race.
