Early morning rain

Tiny Tuesday: Early Morning Rain

"In the early morning rain with a dollar in my hand
With an aching in my heart and my pockets full of sand
Now, I'm a long way from home and I miss my loved ones so
In the early morning rain with no place to go

Out on runway number nine a big 707's set to go
But, I'm stuck here in the grass where the cold wind blows
Now, the liquor tasted good and the women all were fast
Well, there she goes, my friend, well she's going down at last

Hear the mighty engines roar - see the silver bird on high
She's away and westward bound - far above the clouds she'll fly
There the morning rain don't fall and the sun always shines
She'll be flying over my home in about three hours time

This old airport's got me down - it's no earthly good to me
'cause I'm stuck here on the ground as cold and drunk as I can be
You can't jump a jet plane like you can a freight train
So, I'd best be on my way in the early morning rain

You can't jump a jet plane like you can a freight train
So, I'd best be on my way in the early morning rain"

Gordon Lightfoot ~ Early Morning Rain

Sadly I didn't realise that it was a day for mystery macros.  But this shot and the song seemed to just go together as I was taking it first thing, before leaving for work.  As a result I had this Gordon Lightfoot song in my head for much of this morning.  But I am not complaining, far from it. There are much worse ear worms than this much covered '60's folk song from the Canadian balladeer Gordon Lightfoot.

He has written some 200 odd songs, some of them very good indeed.  He was a big favourite of Terry Wogan on Radio 2 so if you ever listened to Terry's show you've probably been exposed to some of Gordon's songs.  He is still alive although he is nearly 80 now and very frail.  But even so, he only stopped touring last year, although it was clearly getting to be an enormous effort for him at that stage.

It was still light enough this morning for me  to be able to take my Tiny Tuesday photos this morning, but I anticipate that by next week I may be struggling.  We shall see.

Back home from work and straight out to band rehearsal, with no time to think about colds and feeling sorry for myself - keeping busy seems to be a  good therapy for colds.  As a result of that busy day, I am only now able to upload my blip, at 23:30 - just in time to avoid it being a back blip, but not enough time to allow me to say thanks properly to everyone for the stars and hearts for my last two blips.  I will try tomorrow I promise!
