The respect that this oath - attributed to Hippocrates - has maintained for the last 2,500 years would explain why it is carved in marble in the entrance hall of a brand new medical education block here in Singapore.

There have been several modern versions - including one drafted by the BMA in 1997 - but somehow they lack the grand style of the original !
