Bow tie?

I don't know.

I've never been one for following fashion, apart from a brief, poorly budgeted effort to dress like a New Romantic in the early eighties. It's always struck me as odd when people buy clothes that are 'in fashion'. I would feel awkward wearing the same thing that other people wear.

Except that quite often, I'll wear DMs, jeans, a t-shirt and a plaid shirt, so I guess I'm wearing the same clothes as literally millions of other people. But, for better or worse, they aren't fashionable.

Thinking about it, though, I do like clothes. I like dressing in different styles. I like wearing a suit, shirt and tie and a pair of black brogues. I enjoy smart casual, but then dressing down suits me, too. And I like bow ties. It's the aspect of 'black tie' events that I like the most. I enjoy putting the tie on - usually with a bit of trial and error - and I relish undoing it towards the end of the evening.

But I'm not sure about wearing a bow tie in other circumstances. Recently I bought four (I know) from an online shop called Mrs Bow Tie and I wore one of them to Frank and Andrea's do last Saturday. One of the other ones is a Christmas one, and I'm pretty relaxed about wearing that for the Christmas party but I'm still not sure when I'll feel confident enough to wear the others. I'll keep you posted (of course).
