Ain't no mountain high enough

Official race prep: Day 1

So here we are then, day one! (Technically it's not day one as I signed up on Friday) but as everyone knows any new regime must start on a Monday, it's the law.

I'm holding off on calling it 'training' at the moment as I genuinely have no idea what I am doing. Apparently the race organisers send you a 16 week training plan so I hope to be more enlightened when that lands in my inbox. I will also continue to do my research and due diligence.

In the meantime I have decided to carry on with my Body Pump classes, a little something I took up after my friend Louise recommended it. To be fair it will help with strengthening my legs and core and I actually really enjoy it. That enjoyment only started once I had got over the Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness that ensued after my first class. I genuinely could not sit on the toilet or ascend / descend the stairs in comfort for a good week after.

Anyway, I digress...

I actually set my alarm for 6am this morning with a view to hitting the gym and treadmill. 7.40am I finally got up (see I told you, self sabotage).

However, I am confident I have pulled it back from the brink... I power walked to Sainsbury's at lunchtime and bought a bunch of bananas. I also wrote the majority of this post while I was waiting for the body pump instructor.

After an hours pump I nailed 30mins and 3.25km on the treadmill. I did have a near miss though when the Almighty Remix of "Ain't no mountain high enough" came on my Cheesy-FM podcast... I nearly went full on Bridget Jones, almost taking myself down in the process. This thing would have been over before it had even begun!

At the time of writing, according to my Fitbit I have done 13,588 steps and 6.2 miles today. I'll take that.

Need to keep the momentum going now.

278 days to go!
