Derelict Sunday - a coastal walk
Today we woke, as expected, to heavily overcast skies and cooler temperatures. We took the opportunity, as planned, to take the coastal walk from our hotel to Puerto del Carmen, about an hour and a half away. As we walked, the sky cleared and the temperature rose, so we were glad to reach our destination and refresh ourselves with cooling beers.
After a wonderful fish lunch we decided to take a taxi back to the hotel: I clocked up 14,220 steps on my fitbit today and felt that was quite enough!
I've rarely taken part in the Derelict Sunday challenge as I don't usually have a suitable subject, but today this odd abandoned building, spotted on our walk, , covered in graffiti, fits the bill. We have no idea what this structure was meant to be and it is very unusual to see this sort of thing on the island.
We had an interesting conversation at dinner this evening with a French speaking couple who signed. We managed to dredge up enough French to chat and with the aid of their signing and lip-reading passed a very pleasant hour.
