Day 283 of 366 - Whitley Pumping Station!

The image today was taken this afternoon in the Whitley area of Coventry. The view is of Whitley Pumping Station. The Pumping station which is Grade II listed was built in 1893 in the Gothic revival style. It was designed by Thomas Hawksley and commissioned by the City of Coventry Corporation to pump water from the nearby River Sowe into a reservoir. This was then used to supply Coventry with clean water. The building currently lies abandoned and closed off. Although there are plans to try to restore it as part of a centrepiece of an apartment complex. These plans have been on record since 2007 but are yet to be fully approved. As the site seems to be inaccessible, I took the photo from the edge of the main road. I liked this particular view as there was part of a rainbow above the building.

The photo was taken using the app Pix by Microsoft on my iPhone 6.

First I used the app Snapseed to edit the picture. I cropped the image and applied the Tonal Contrast preset. I then decreased the Highlights and increased the Sharpness a little. I then boosted the Saturation, Contrast, Warmth and Ambiance. I finally added a vignette to the image. After this I used the app Brushstroke to apply the Oil O4 painterly preset. I also changed the canvas type to Hard Grain. Finally I used PhotoToaster to add the Tone preset and the Vibrant FX. I then applied the Stucco texture and the Leather frame.
