Mercersburg Inn

Day 1 of our Southern road trip.  Today we drove to Mercersburg, Pennsylvania, where we are staying at the Mercersburg Inn -- a beautiful mansion house originally named "Prospect", built in 1910 by a prosperous tanner.  Our room is the original master suite's dressing room.  It has a wonderful double door opening out onto a balcony overlooking the front garden.  We can sit out there, enjoying the view, sipping wine, and admiring the grand columns and wrought iron balcony rail.  It all feels rather like being in a scene from Gone With The Wind!

Tomorrow we plan on visiting the Gettysburg Civil War battle site.  Stay tuned.
