Blackpool Sands
We've had a fantastic day today - we drove to Kingswear and took the car ferry across the River Dart to Dartmouth and then drove to Blackpool Sands. It was absolutely stunning and nothing like Blackpool in the North West, it was a beautiful bay with turquoise sea and a very nice beach cafe. We sat and had tea, coffee and a hot chocolate for me and then walked along the coastal path which took us to the top of the hill so we could look down on the beach.
We then went back down to the cafe and had lunch sat out on the terrace before heading back to Dartmouth, which is a really pretty place with colourful cottages and old buildings. We had ice cream and meandered through the streets and then drove back to the car ferry.
Once back at the apartment we sat on the terrace and shared a bottle of prosecco and nibbles, and then tonight we've been to Bistro Pierre which more than made up for last night's meal. Our waitress Magalie was French, and was really lovely - we even had a chat in French. She's a chemist looking for work in England and is working as a waitress until she finds something. The food and atmosphere was great and when we left I asked to speak to the manager as I wanted to tell them how lovely Magalie was. The manager thanked us and said that it's very rare that anyone bothers to tell them when they've enjoyed it, normally it's complaints. It's only a small chain of restaurants and I really hope they come to Brighton - we'd definitely go back.
Anyway, it's time for bed - tomorrow we head home so have another long drive ahead of us. We're planning to stop somewhere en-route though, and make a day of it. The boys are fine as Charlotte is doggy sitting at our house again so there's no rush to get back.
