I have never seen a straight banana

I saw this "banana keeper" in the Lakeland store today and then, for some reason, couldn't get this song out of my head.
It was written in 1926 but was re-released again in about 1960 by Jimmy Edwards a comedian of the time. I remember that my dad "couldn't stick him".
