Southeast by east

Day 12 following the lines of the compass in sequence from Glossop town centre.

It's not been the greatest day weather wise in north Derbyshire. The sun still shone on the London Olympics for the last day but here it's been windy early then overcast with poor visibility and then a very heavy rain shower in the early evening.

My choice of photo shows the variety of land in the area. It would have shown it more clearly in better light!

The photo was taken on the footpath from the top of Cliffe road to Brownhill Cottage. The foreground is farmland with the grass already safely gathered in.

Over the woods is the sheep farm land around  Jumble and Hurst Nook farms and on the horizon is the open heather moorland towards Kinder Scout, the highest mountain in the Peak District. The Red Grouse apparently get to live another day when the 'Glorious 12th' falls on a Sunday. There are plenty of them up there this year many more than in some recent years.

I'm hoping for better weather tomorrow but if not I'll still be looking for something new to photograph to the Southeast.
