Looking towards the beautiful Cumbria views through the train window. Looking the other way it was difficult to see beyond the tightly squashed standing passengers but I could see dozens of bottles and cans stacked up on a table while the very lively men enjoyed their drink despite it still being before midday. Some were on their way to a Stag Do and others on their way to the SuperLeague Cup Final at Old Trafford. From Carlisle to Manchester people had difficulty getting off and on the train and apologies were issued several times for the fact that so many had to stand and the late running of the train. I felt very sorry for those with large cases going on to Manchester Airport. At the best of times the four coach train is totally unsuitable for passengers with cases as there is inadequate storage space for anything larger than a cabin sized bag.
