Marlbrook Gardens
Back on June 2nd I posted a blip of the garden at Seechem Manor near Alvechurch, which was open to visitors for the day as part of the NGS Gardens Open for Charity Scheme.
This afternoon three houses down the road from our house, in Marlbrook, jointly opened their gardens as part of the same scheme. All the gardens, though larger than ours, were on a more modest scale than Seecham Manor, but in a way all the more impressive for the ambitious landscaping and planting of the owners.
For my blip I have chosen this view of one of the gardens which makes stunning use of a former sand quarry's steep terraces. The owners have landscaped it beautifully, complete with several ponds linked by running streams. They have also built a roof garden on top of an extension at the back of the house, with a first floor level conservatory. The photo is taken from the roof garden looking up the garden terraces.
