In Quest of Beauty

What a delight to spend an evening exploring the world of Alphonse Mucha: In Quest of Beauty at Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum.

Pippa Stephenson, curator of European art at Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum says the display, in conjunction with the Mucha Trust and the Mucha Foundation, shows just how clearly artistic ideals were exchanged across Europe at the time.

Several key objects from Glasgow Museums' collection have been carefully selected to accompany the artworks by Mucha. Paintings and posters by artists such as Dante Gabriel Rossetti, Toulouse Lautrec, John Duncan, Sir Edward Coley Burne-Jones and Charles Rennie Mackintosh and his Glasgow Style contemporaries demonstrate the interchange of artistic ideas between Scotland, the rest of the UK, and continental Europe

After being in Paris last week it was good to see so much of Mucha's Paris period.

This wonderful exhibition runs until 19 February 2017.
