In the realm of a diva

Hardly so but nonetheless adding colour to an otherwise gloomy day.  Alice in Wonderland was first translated into Russian in 1879 as "Sonia in the realm of a diva" (Соня в царстве дива). Apparently, this first translation was so bad that critics advised mothers to ignore the book and in fact walk right by it (on the shelves).
